Who’s Next featuring Drake Tonight

5.26.2009

Just how big is Drake going to be? Big enough that without an album out yet and little promotion behind his debut New York show it sold out within hours of going on-sale. For those who don’t know the name, get familiar now because by the end of the year youdrakewhonext can count on him being a household name. The Toronto based rapper and actor already has a somewhat exisiting fanbase, primarily young girls who know the 22 year old better as Jimmy Brooks on the show Degrassi. He breaks out of the television game to break into the rap game and is doing it damn well. Already part of Cash Money and seen as a protoge of Lil’ Wayne, Drake’s mixtapes are getting tons of downloads and attention with his ability to both rap and sing well. ‘Best I Ever Had’ off of the So Far Gone mixtape is already getting tons of spins on radio stations. Drake says it best himself “When my album drop bitches will buy it for the picture//and n****s will buy it too and claim they got it for they sister.”

Drake performs at the sold out Hot 97 Who’s Next showcase tonight (05.26.09) at S.O.B.’s along with GC & Soul Mafia Folk and Stress. Show up early to try and get tickets at the door that may be released.

I never even heard of this clown before. If he’s down with Lil Wayne he must be wack though. No wonder he’s about to blow up.
