The BAM Takeover

The BAM Takeover goes down 09.27.08 featuring four bands selected by Sufjan Stevens.  Performing in the Opera House will be the Brooklyn Youth Chorus singing Nico Muhly and other works, St. Vincent, Naomi Shelton & The Gospel Queens, and The Budos Band.

Meanwhile, four movie marathons will be screening in BAM’s cinemas all with different themes.  “Bring Back the Draught!” features screenings of Beerfest, Strange Brew, Thebamtakeover Saddest Music in the World, and The Fatal Glass of Beer.  “Up All Night in 1985 features The Last Dragon, Perfect, Fright Night, and others.  “The Reel World: Brooklyn” features Saturday Night Fever, She’s Gotta Have It, and The Warriors.  Finally, Lars von Trier’s The Kingdom: Part I screens for the last show.

Your DJs for The Takeover?  King Britt and Vikter Duplaix.  Still not enough for you?   The rec-room will have Wii, Guitar Hero, ping-pong, arcade games and a lounge with video art by Deborah Johnson and CandyStations.  The Takeover is a nightlong event that starts at 9:00 PM and runs til 4:00 AM.  By the looks of all the entertainment that will be there for the night this is something you won’t want to miss.  Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
