On 10.06.09, S.O.B.’s presents a nice show mixing superstar rookies with veterans when Tanya Morgan and Black Sheep share the bill for the night.  Also, for the first time ever Black Sheep will be backed by a live band.

On Tuesday, October 6th, Revive da Live presents golden-era hip-hop torchbearers Tanya Morgan, and veterans of the era, Black Sheep, in concert together, both backed by a live band at the legendary nightclub S.O.B.’s in New York City. Fresh off the release of their critically acclaimed sophomore album, Brooklynati (Interdependent Media), Tanya Morgan will make their debut appearance at SOB’s on October 6th; it will be their first-ever concert with a live band. Brooklynati has been favorably reviewed in Billboard, Spin and XXL Magazine and has earned Tanya Morgan comparisons to the venerable 1990’s rap crew Native Tongues, of which groups like De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest and Black Sheep themselves, were a part. According to Charles Aaron, the editor of Spin Magazine, “Tanya Morgan are like the sons of De La Soul — soulful, stressed, effortlessly smart flows, intricate production, the whole package.”

Now, joining forces with Native Tongue family member Black Sheep, whose iconic hits “The Choice is Yours (This or That)” and “Similak Child” are ubiquitous symbols of classic rap, Tanya Morgan continues to push the genre forward while bridging the gap between 2 decades of hip-hop. Black Sheep will be performing all their timesless classics, backed by a live band for the first time ever in New York City.
