Planet B-Boy Film Screenings & After Party

3.21.2008

Planet B-Boy, the new film based on breakdancing will have several limited screenings across the country.

PBBWith compelling characters and vibrant dance sequences, Benson Lee’s documentary feature is set in the international world of B-boying—the urban dance more commonly known as “breakdancing.” An American dancer in Vegas looks for his big break; a Korean son seeks his father’s approval; a 12-year-old boy in France confronts his family’s racism—all the b-boys’ lives collide in Germany where their skills are put to the ultimate test: the “Battle of the Year” finals, with crews from 18 nations vying for the title of World Champion. The film features electrifying dance performances and astonishing displays of power and grace, showing how a street dance from New York has evolved into an inspiring art form for a new generation around the world.

The New York screening takes place tonight, 03.21.08 at the Sunshine Cinema.  Advance tickets are available at the Landmark Theatre website.  Following the film you can head over to Knitting Factory for the movie premier after party.  The night will feature performances from turntablists DP One and DJ MSG  along with special guests Omar Abdulkarim, Turntable Anhilist G.I. JOE, & Oveous Maximus.  More info on the after party is available here; tickets are $15.
