This Saturday, 08.29.09 would have been the 51st birthday of Michael Jackson.  Plenty of events have been planned to help remember The King of Pop.  During the day Spike Lee has planned an official Brooklyn Block Party in tribute taking place from noon until 5:00 PM in Fort Greene Park (now moved to Prospect Park) with music by DJ Spinna.  Later that night head over to Nokia Theatre as Q-Tip presents ‘Long Live the King!: a birthday celebration for Michael Jackson.”  Spinna makes the move from BK to Times Square as he and Mark Ronson join Q-Tip at the party where they spin MJ originals and remixes and premier never seen video footage.  Spike’s block party is a free daytime event while tickets to ‘Long Live the King!’ are $25. Also on Friday night you can celebrate the MJ b-day eve (08.28.09) at Le Poisson Rouge when The Freedom Party DJs throw their own tribute.

For over a year now Q-Tip and Rich Medina have held the Friday residency at Santos Party House.  More recently, DJ Spinna has taken over Thursdays at the club.
