  • 08.01.07  The Walls Belong To Us art show benefit @ Powerhouse Arena, more info

  • 08.02.07  Roy Ayers @ Springfield Park, this is a free show

  • 08.03.07  Turntables on the Hudson: Billie Holiday remixed @ South Street Seaport Pier 17, this is a free event featuring DJs who will remix the music of Billie Holiday

  • 08.03.07  RJD2 @ Rocks off Boat Cruise, I saw RJ on this same cruise a few years ago and it was an awesome experience.  The boat takes you around the city’s waters and you get great views.  I haven’t seen RJ live since The Third Hand came out but hopefully he still spins his old material as well.

  • 08.03.07  Bilal @ Highline Ballroom, more info

  • 08.03.07  C-Rayz Walz & Sharkey, The Drugstore Cowboys and P Nyce @ Southpaw, more info

  • 08.03.07  Dave Brubeck Quartet @ Damrosch Park Bandshell, see some good jazz for free if you don’t like any of the other shows going on today

  • 08.04.07  Zune Live at the BBQ (Common, Mos Def, Clipse and many more) @ ?, this is a free event and ticketing is still going on.  The venue has not been announced yet but readers here have posted that it will be at the same field where the Brooklyn Hiphop Festival was

  • 08.05.07  BB King Blues Fest with Al Green and Etta James @ The Theatre at MSG, if I was in town for this I would be here in a second.  I heard that Chaka Khan has replaced Etta James after her recent health troubles.
