Lineup Announced For The Roots Picnic 2009

Save the weekend and book the train ticket to Philly now. The Roots have just confirmed the lineup for their second annual Roots Picnic hometown festival at Festival Pier in Philadelphia. The Roots who not only host the event will open and close the show with two sets. Inbetween, get ready for the most solid festival lineup you can catch this year. Public Enemy will be one of the main headliners, performing their classic album It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back in its entirety backed by The Roots and Brooklyn’s own Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra. Santigold, The Black Keys, The Pipes featuring Zoe Kravitz perform with support from Asher Roth, Kid Cudi, Writtenhouse, Back to Basics, Making Time, and Busdriver. The all day picnic kicks off at 2:00 PM on 06.06.09 with music on a main and second stage. No ticket information is available yet but you can catch a possible sneak preview of what will be in store when Public Enemy performs on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon tomorrow (03.16) night.
