YOYO NYC Version Afterparty 07.11.07, Conan Tonight

7.12.2007

Mark Ronson and Daniel Merriweather performing ‘Stop Me’ at the Version afterparty @ Love 07.11.07

The YOYO NYC parties at Love have been getting pretty regular coverage here but like I said before, it is becoming one of the best nights out in the city.  The party was pretty much the same as the past YOYO events although this time there was a much larger crowd on hand since it was the official afterparty for Mark Ronson’s Version release show at the Highline Ballroom where he played with a live band.

The YOYO crew was on hand spinning music all night.  Later in the night Chicago rap group The Cool Kids performed.  This was my first time hearing them and was pretty underwhelmed by the performance.  I couldn’t feel their style and can’t picture myself listening to them on record; they may be something you would be interested if you are into that Spankrock type music.

Ronson followed The Cool Kids, spinning a set similar to the McCarren Pool show and other YOYO events.  Daniel Merriweather was in the house and the two performed ‘Stop Me’ which brought the crowd to life.  It will be interesting to see how the upcoming YOYO events draw in the future.  The Q-Tip party last month drew a small crowd but with the U.S. release of Version and the large turnout last night these could become a bigger draw in the future.

  1. E :

The concert @ the Highline earlier in the night was great. Ronson rocked out with his live band and brought a ton of guests on stage including Merriweather, Kenna, Santo Gold, the lead singer of Phantom Planet, and Saigon.
