The Rub Loft Party with Waajeed and Max Glazer 12.22.07

Waajeed

Its nice when everything you need for the night is in one specific neighborhood and Fort Greene was that neighborhood Saturday.  Following Cody Chesnutt’s show, The Cosmo Baker of The RubRub threw their loft party with guest DJs Max Glazer and Waajeed.  I’ve seen The Rub collectively and individual members a lot this year and as always the guys held down the party with a soul heavy set that kept everyone moving.

I should take a minute to mention what a perfect space the loft 12turns13 is.  Some spaces were meant for parties and this is one of them; a huge open area for the dance floor, an elevated kitchen which made for a great DJ booth, and a gigantic roof for fresh air, smoking, and puking.

Waajeed turnin pagesWaajeed’s The War L.P. was one of my favorite records this summer and was on constant rotation so I was interested to see what his live sets are all about.  He threw down the best sets of the night, working solely on CDJs.  When Pioneer first introduced the CDJ I laughed at it as a cheap alternative to vinyl but with everyone using Serato lately watching a skilled DJ flip through CDs on this was much more entertaining than a DJ typing in iTunes.  More pictures from the party below:
