The Real Live Show & Waajeed at Sputnik 09.06.08
9.8.2008Full review and photos from Saturday night’s show with The Real Live show and Waajeed inside… Those who manned up and went out Saturday night during the “storm” were treated to an itimate show in Brooklyn with some of the undeground scene’s finer jazz and hip-hop artists. Revive Da Live presented The Scenario at Sputnik which moved Nublu resident band The Real Live Show from the L.E.S. to Brooklyn. For those who haven’t heard of this group yet make sure to give them a listen. The band is a dope blend of live jazz & soul with a Stimulus, a strong emcee resulting in music with real substance. The group has terrific chemistry on stage and I was most impressed with their peformance of ‘Not US,’ a powerful take on the state of our country with a fuck you message to a lot of the BS and even sicker beat.
The night was closed out by Waajeed, a name that is becoming pretty familiar on this site and the New York party scene. Waaj was impressive as always, this time flipping it up a little DJing with his laptop instead of the usual CD-Js. Joined by a live drummer backing him on the rhythm, spinning Gangstarr and Nas tracks became a lot more interesting.
