Red & Meth Headlining B.B. Kings & New Album News

5.7.2009

Last October Red & Meth took the stage together at Nokia for a long overdue performance together. Around that time I had mentioned that the two would be releasing a second album together (also long overdue) although there hadn’t been too many details about the record itself. However, it has now been announced that the new album Blackout! 2 will hit stores on 05.19 and will feature 17 new tracks from the two. Complete tracklisting looks like the following:

  • •01 BO2 (Intro)
  • •02 I’m Dope Niggablackout2
  • •03 A-Yo feat. Saukrates
  • •04 Dangerous MCs
  • •05 Errbody Scream feat. Keith Murray
  • •06 Hey Zulu
  • •07 City Lights feat. UGK
  • •08 Father’s Day
  • •09 Mrs. International (Skit)
  • •10 Mrs. International feat. Erick Sermon
  • •11 How Bout Dat feat. Ready Roc & Streetlife
  • •12 Dis Iz 4 All My Smokers
  • •13 Lock Down (Skit) feat. DJ Kay Slay
  • •14 Four Minutes to Lock Down feat. Raekwon & Ghostface
  • •15 Neva Heard Dis B4
  • •16 I Know Sumptin feat. Poo Bear
  • •17 A Lil Bit feat. Melanie Rutherford

Even more good news. Besides the album due out in the coming weeks the guys will headline a huge show at B.B. King Blues Club during Memorial Day Weekend on 05.24.09 for the “Hip Hop Legends Concert Series.” Redman & Method Man top the bill which also includes EPMD, Brand Nubian, Nore, Black Sheep, and Lords of the Underground. Tickets are $30 in advance for this late night 21+ midnight show. With so much talent in the house for one night you can count on plenty of guests coming showing up as well.

  1. Davis :

lineup for the night is bananas. i was at that nokia theater show and they tore the place down. this is goin to be so much better cuz bb’s is a lot smaller plus EPMD, Nore, Brandu Nub opening???? HOLY SHIT i am there

  2. hip hop historian :

The show started almost two hours late which ended up shortening EPMD’s set to four songs and then cutting Red & Meth’s mics just as they were going to close the night with Da Rockwilder. Overall the show was crazy though. Everybody represented.

  3. Wise :

You left out a lot of big names from that show at BB Kings next month. It’s
Naughty by Nature, Nice & Smooth, Black Moon, Smif-N-Wesson, MC Lyte, Raekwon, Das Efx, Lord Finesse, and Show & AG.

That’s an insane lineup. Funkmaster Flex is the host and I’m pretty sure he’s the one putting together and promoting this whole “Hip Hop Legends” concert series.

I don’t know what they’re thinking though to have this show on a Wednesday night at 11. You know it’s gonna be an older crowd and a lot of us have to work the next morning. They should change it to a weekend or at least make the start time earlier.

The last “Hip Hop Legends” show on the morning of Memorial Day was supposed to start at midnight but didn’t start until almost 2 and didn’t end until after 4am. They ended up cutting half of EPMD’s set and cutting off the sound during Meth and Red’s set. Plus I think they oversold the last show because it was packed like crazy and supposedly the fire marshall almost shut it down.

It’s a crazy lineup but they need to fix a lot of things to make it go smoother. I want to see this “Hip Hop Legends” thing be a success and keep it going because the lineups are crazy but if they don’t get it together and also pick a better venue and/or better days and times for these shows it’s not gonna last long.
